NESS Consulting services (Pty) Ltd also affectionately known as “NESS”, is an authorized FSP that is 100% black owned, celebrating its 20th year of service. NESS’s core focus is providing affordable cash funeral policies to individuals and groups. With a combined experience of over 30 years in the financial services sector, clients have become reliant on the consistent delivery and industry knowledge that the Ness team collectively have to offer.

Our History

2004 - 2006

Setting the Foundation and welcoming our very first client client client

In 2004 the founders (Mr Mbulelo Maqubela and Mr Petros Mbewu) put their heads together unveiled on paper what is today NESS Consulting Services Pty Ltd (“NESS”). NESS was incorporated in 2005 and licensed in 2006, thus NESS is an Authorized FSP. NESS is 100% Black Owned, Black Managed thus Level 1 BBBEE Company. The first offices were opened in Bezuidenhout Valley mid 2005 and the first client was obtained towards the end of 2005.

NESS’s market focus is LSM 1 to 6 providing cash funeral policies to individuals and groups. Leadership has a combined experience of over 50 years in the financial services sector specializing mainly in insurance.

2007 - 2009

Entering the growth lap of the NESS journey

NESS realized a commendable business growth, in 2007 moved into larger office spaces in Joburg, Braamfontein. NESS built its base as an Administration and Product solutions Provider by establishing itself in other provinces particularly entering KZN launching in Durban.
In 2008 NESS realized a landmark achievement of over R10.0m API and in 2009 launched Member Plus Product.

2010 - 2012

NESS expands footprint and realizes rapid growth

NESS provides consulting, administration and product development solutions to clients in the Long-term Insurance industry. Over the years NESS's core reputation and good standing has been built around its administration and product capability for the funeral insurance administration services to clients ranging from funeral parlours to underwriters. In 2011 NESS added Potch in the North West and Mthatha in Eastern Cape to its growing network of offices.

2013 - 2015

NESS has been operational and resilient for 10 years

NESS is dedicated to providing consulting, product development and administration of insurance products that provide quality protection with value pricing.

In 2013 our in-house built document management and policy administration system was unveiled. That is what makes NESS proficient in enabling Group Schemes, Trade Unions and Affinity Groups reconcile subscriptions or fee payments and the payment of relevant Service Providers through our Administration Platform. Through our Long-Term relationship with underwriters we are able to attain competitive rates.

NESS ‘s fortified risk management and business continuity planning has placed NESS in a position where NESS can be proud that they are amongst the first in the SMME sector to adopt flexible working approach this helped NESS in 2014 survive fire that destroyed their offices in 209 Smit street Braamfontein. In 2015 NESS was in a recovery journey from the ordeal of 2014, NESS began to celebrate 10 years of a growing business and projected the R100m milestone.

2016 - 2020

Building NESS and Walking towards R100m Milestone

NESS has achieved market growth in insurance administration by combining superior governance approach, human capital management, business process management, digital transformation, and expertise of our highly skilled and engaged employees and partners.

In 2016, NESS was retained by Sanlam as part of 3 administrators out 15 due to the following capabilities:

- Intermediary services, Administration and Binder handling
- Consulting and advice
- Governance and Leadership i.e., Business Management
- Data protection and insurance business compliance
- Digital Transformation, IT Infrastructure and Office    Infrastructure

In 2017, NESS was Appointed by Old Mutual to administer their emerging markets groups. It is in this same year where NESS opened an office in Ulundi KZN.

In 2018, NESS extended their footprint and opened an office in Butterworth EC.

In 2019, Our hosted services service provider was hit by the cyber-attack this affected our servers and data which got encrypted by these perpetrators. We had a downtime of a day and we began to be operational from day 2 and realised full recovery of operational platform within 5 days.

In 2020, NESS launched Employee Benefits Product through Imbewu Investment Holdings.

2021 to date

NESS realized 20 years, Decades of Excellence in the Business World.

We have spent many years working in the insurance industry, as founders saw a gap in the low income market. Our experience has equipped us for the environment. Insurance is what we know and our penetration in this base of the insurance market is significant and has thus far been achieved without any external capital injection NESS managed to survive COVID as most of similar sized businesses closed down, furthermore, the huge claim increases during this period were handled well by the capable team of NESS and resilience of our hybrid working practices. Furthermore, NESS remained resilient during global economic downtime.
